Solo RPG Project 2026: Scene 1
It was midday when the four adventurers stepped into the forest clearing and first laid eyes on the crumbling stone ruins. The bureaucrat from the North Pine Company who had hired them had spoken of an old building near one of the logging camps. But his words had been flat and cold and unimaginative, his description was nothing like what they saw before them.

They approached from the south and saw a series of carved stone pillars lining an entryway into a partially collapsed stone structure. The general layout, at least what they could see beneath the choking vines and overgrown grass, suggested a former shrine or temple. The air smelled of burning leaves, and a small column of smoke rose from inside the walls of the shrine.
The job was simple enough: explore the ruins and make sure whatever was spooking the nearby logging camp was sent on its way.
As the four took in the scene before them, Gossamer the Magic User let out a whistle and said, "Is that writing on the pillars over there?" His fingers twitched with excitement as he took a few steps toward the ruins.
"Slow down, that'll be a nice bonus. Time for that after we make it safe," said Gunderson the Dwarf, hand resting on the handle of his axe. He pointed toward the piles of rubble around some fallen pillars. "Something's moving in there."
The group looked on from a distance, watching as a group of black scavenger birds picked at something partially buried under the rubble. A moment later, whatever the birds were eating, began to move.
